Celebrating the Past, Creating the Future!
On March 27, 1823, the Town of Alden was established and codified in the Laws of the State of New York. In anticipation of the Town’s 200th anniversary, the Town has created an ad-hoc Bicentennial Committee. The Committee has been meeting to organize a bicentennial celebration that will begin on the first day of the Town’s 200th year, March 28, 2022, and runs through March 2023.
Planning is underway. Tentative events throughout the year include: A 200 Years Celebration set for late July, 2022; a Spooktacular Weekend in October, 2022; New Year’s #200 on December 31, 2022; Winterfest on February 4th, 2023; and, the Birthday Party set for March, 2023.
Local civic groups, businesses and churches are invited to get in on the action with bicentennial-themed events and programs of their own. Creativity is encouraged. The Bicentennial Committee hopes community organizations and businesses will use this opportunity to highlight their own histories and contributions to our Town.
